James McGowen

James (Jim) McGowen, 60, of Eureka, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on May 17, 2013, after a battle with cancer.

Jim was born Nov. 22, 1952, in Muskegon, Mich., to Gerald and Helen (Ellis) McGowen.

Jim was an avid hunter, fisherman, Harley rider, and loyal friend.  He worked his entire career repairing boats and motors and was known locally as the “Boatman.”

Jim is survived by the love of his life, wife Mattie of Eureka; son Cory of Grand Rapids, Mich.; brother Gerry of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; and many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Patrick.

As per Jim’s wishes, he will be cremated.  A celebration of his life will be held at his home on a date to be determined.
